Updated Tidy-up Sessions List

The dates for tidy-up sessions for September and October are:-

Please feel free to join the Friends for all or part of these sessions and do as much or as little as you feel able.

Friends of Marie Louise Gardens ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The next AGM of the Friends will take place at 7.30pm (please note correct time!) Tuesday 8th july at the

Holt Pavilion,

Didsbury Park, 

Sandhurst Road, 

Manchester, 

M20 5LS

All members of the Friends are welcome to attend as well as those with an interest in the park who would like to join the Friends. Please come along and contribute to the long-term future of Marie Louise Gardens.

Park 'Tidy-up Sessions'

The first 'Tidy-up Session' took place on @8th May at 6.00pm.

These sessions are open to anyone with a spare hour on the second Saturday at 11.00am or last Wednesday at 6.00pm of each month to come along to Marie Louise Gardens and help with general maintenance, weeding, pruning, tidying and anything else that might need doing. Colin Evans of South Manchester Parks Dept. will provide tools and members of the MLG committee will always be present. Some light refreshments will be available. So, don't be afraid - come and do as much or as little as you want or even just sit and supervise!

Obviously, the City Council is still responsible for regular 'heavy-duty' maintenance - grass cutting, major tree works and upkeep of paths etc.

The proposed dates for these sessions up to the end of August are:-

Easter Egg Hunt - a few photos

The Easter Egg Hunt was well attended by local children and their parents. Colin Evans organised the clues and awarded the eggs to all those who got all the answers correct.
Hope to see even more local people at our next event on Saturday 12th July!

For all those at a loose end on Wednesday 16th April (young and old) why not come along and take part in Friends of MLG Easter Egg Hunt! 10.30am Start!

Activity Day Sat 8th February

Despite yet another bad weather forecast, members of Friends of MLG committee and a number of local residents and families turned out on a breezy morning last Saturday.
Colin Evans conducted a bird box building masterclass. Others set about cleaning the mosaic sundial, sweeping leaves to fill the newly installed composters and cleaned benches as well as creating habitat piles from fallen branches.

We hope to be holding similar events in the coming months, so keep checking the website for more news!

Winter Warmer Activity Day in the Gardens, Saturday 8th Feb 2014 11.00am

The friends are organising an activity day from 11.00am - 2.00pm on Saturday 8th Feb.

Activities will include:
Nestbox building,
Compost Gathering,
Plant Swap - Please bring potted up cuttings and other house or garden plants to swap,
General tidying and cleaning in the park.

Refreshments and Tools provided.
